About the Ramayana :- The Ayodhya Kanda is the most emotionally powerful section of the Ramayana. As King Dasharatha prepares to crown Rama as heir, Queen Kaikeyi — influenced by her maid Manthara — invokes two ancient boons, demanding that Rama be exiled for 14 years and her own son Bharata be crowned instead. Rama accepts exile without a moment of hesitation, demonstrating perfect obedience and dharma. Sita and Lakshmana insist on accompanying him. The citizens of Ayodhya weep as the three depart for the forest. King Dasharatha dies of grief. When Bharata learns of these events, he rushes to the forest and begs Rama to return, but Rama refuses to break his father's word. Bharata takes Rama's sandals and places them on the throne, ruling as regent. This kanda teaches the supreme value of keeping one's word and the power of sacrifice.

स सुहृज् जनम् आमन्त्र्य वन वासाय निश्चितः |
इष्क्वाकु गुरुम् आमन्त्र्य जग्राह आयुधम् उत्तमम् || २-३१-३०

Lakshmana, who was assured of his sojourn in the forest, after bidding good bye ot his friends, approached Vasista the preceptor of Ikshvaku dynasty and took the excellent armoury.
वह मित्रजनों को बुलाकर वनवास के लिए निश्चित हो गया। इक्ष्वाकु ने गुरु को बुलाकर उत्तम शस्त्र धारण किया।

तत् दिव्यम् राज शार्दूलः सत्कृतम् माल्य भूषितम् |
रामाय दर्शयाम् आस सौमित्रिः सर्वम् आयुधम् || २-३१-३१

Lakshmana, a tiger among princes, showed to Rama all those arms, which were divine, being worshipped and decorated by garlands.
वह दिव्य, राजाओं में सिंह के समान, मालाओं से सुशोभित, सभी आयुध लक्ष्मण ने राम को दिखाए।

तम् उवाच आत्मवान् रामः प्रीत्या लक्ष्मणम् आगतम् |
काले त्वम् आगतः सौम्य कान्क्षिते मम लक्ष्मण || २-३१-३२

Rama, who had fully controlled his mind, affectionately spoke as follows to Lakshmana who arrived: "Oh, Lakshmana, the excellent man! You came in time as desired by me."
राम ने प्रेम से लक्ष्मण से कहा, "मेरे प्रिय लक्ष्मण, तुम सही समय पर आए हो, जिसकी मुझे बहुत प्रतीक्षा थी।"

Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 31 · v30
अहम् प्रदातुम् इच्चामि यद् इदम् मामकम् धनम् |
ब्राह्मणेभ्यः तपस्विभ्यः त्वया सह परम्तप || २-३१-३३

"Lakshmana, the chastiser of foes! along with you, I want to give all this wealth pertaining to me to brahmanas, practising ansterities."
मैं तुम्हें यह अपना धन ब्राह्मणों और तपस्वियों को देना चाहता हूँ, हे परंतप।

Ayodhya Kanda – Sarga 31 · v31
वसन्ति इह दृढम् भक्त्या गुरुषु द्विज सत्तमाः |
तेषाम् अपि च मे भूयः सर्वेषाम् च उपजीविनाम् || २-३१-३४

"I also desire to give to those excellent brahmanas residing here as strong devotees to their proceptors and to all my dependents."
यहाँ गुरुजनों में दृढ़ भक्ति वाले श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मण निवास करते हैं। और वे, तथा मुझ सहित सभी आश्रितों का भी कल्याण हो।

वसिष्ठ पुत्रम् तु सुयज्ञम् आर्यम् |
त्वम् आनय आशु प्रवरम् द्विजानाम् |
अभिप्रयास्यामि वनम् समस्तान् |
अभ्यर्च्य शिष्टान् अपरान् द्विजातीन् || २-३१-३५

"You bring boon the venerable Suyagna, the son of Vasista, the best. After adoring all other brahmanas also who are cultured, I will go to the forest."
हे श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणों में प्रमुख सुयज्ञ! तुम वसिष्ठ के पुत्र को शीघ्र ले आओ। मैं सभी श्रेष्ठ द्विजातियों का आदर करके वन को प्रस्थान करूँगा।

इति वाल्मीकि रामायणे आदि काव्ये अयोध्य काण्डे एक त्रिंशः सर्गः

Thus completes 31st chapter in the Ayodhya kanda of the glorious Ramayayana of Valmiki, the work of a sage and the oldest epic.
